Your Weakness is Your Strength
We spend our whole lives hiding our weaknesses. We pretend we have it all together. We edit our failures out of the story.
But what if everything you've been trying to hide is exactly what God wants to use?
Paul's Thorn
In 2 Corinthians 12, Paul talks about a "thorn in his flesh"—some weakness he couldn't get rid of. He begged God three times to remove it. And God said no.
But then God said something that changed everything: "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness."
Made perfect in weakness. Not despite weakness. In it.
And Paul's response? He said, "Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me."
Paul learned something we all need to learn: Your weakness isn't your liability. It's your invitation to experience God's power.
The Lie We Believe
We think God can only use us when we're strong. When we have it all figured out. When we're performing at 100%.
But look at who God chooses: Moses had a speech impediment. David was a shepherd. Peter was impulsive. Paul was a murderer.
God didn't choose them because they were perfect. He chose them because they were available. And their weaknesses kept them dependent on Him.
When you're weak, you can't take credit. When you're weak, you can't lean on yourself. When you're weak, God gets the glory.
The Power of Vulnerability
Here's what happens when you stop hiding your weaknesses: You become relatable. You become real. You become someone people can connect with.
No one connects with perfect. Perfect is intimidating. Perfect is unreachable. But weakness? Weakness is human. Weakness is honest. And in a world full of filters and facades, honesty is magnetic.
When you share your struggles, you give others permission to share theirs. When you admit you don't have it all together, you create space for others to do the same.
And that's when community happens. That's when healing happens. That's when God's power shows up.
What Weakness Teaches Us
Your weakness isn't a flaw in God's design. It's a feature. Because weakness teaches you things strength never will.
Weakness teaches you humility. When you can't do it on your own, you stop pretending you can.
Weakness teaches you dependence. You learn to pray when you have no other option.
Weakness teaches you compassion. When you've struggled, you don't judge others who are struggling.
And most importantly, weakness teaches you that God's power doesn't need your strength. It just needs your surrender.
Embracing Your Weakness
So stop running from your weaknesses. Stop apologizing for them. Stop pretending they don't exist.
Bring them to God. Lay them at His feet. And watch what He does with them.
Because the areas where you feel weakest? Those are the areas where God's power will shine brightest.
Your weakness is not your disqualification. It's your invitation. God doesn't need you to be strong. He needs you to be willing.
So today, bring your weakness to Him. And let His strength be made perfect in you.
